Q: When I view my label or report I see values with two dashes -- what do these mean?
A: These indicate there is no data for these items. We recommend always looking at the spreadsheet report when reviewing labels, this will put No Data String (default two dashes "--" but can be another symbol if changed in your preferences) where data is incomplete or missing. When reviewing your recipes it is a good idea to edit any ingredients where you see there are dashes. This is common with the new U.S. 2016 label format especially for new nutrients (added sugar) or those that changed in the database (such as Vitamin D or Dietary Fiber.) You should never produce a label that has -- values for any data, this may result in inaccurate or non-compliant labels.
