Vitamin A, Beta Carotene. I have been asked to say on the nutrition fact panel: Vitamin A 90% (___% as beta carotene). I am not sure what percent of the 90% is found as beta carotene. Do you know?

The numbers that we know are as follows:

U.S. RDI for Vitamin A is 5000 IU

1 RE = 10 IU from plant foods

1 RE = 6 mcg of beta carotene

So, 5000 IU of Vit A = 500 RE = 3000 mcg of beta carotene

If it is required that your product supplies 90% of the U.S. RDI for Vitamin A, that would be 4500 IU or 450 RE or 2700 mcg beta carotene.
