Studies - Data Changes Over Time

Q.  We inputted dietary recalls into The Food Processor for our study.  The values are different from what we’ve exported over time to what is now reported in the current Food Processor. Does data change in the software?

A.  If you have installed any software updates since the beginning of your study, then yes, it is very likely that data has changed for foods you have selected. Database updates include new foods as well as updated values for existing foods, so USDA, Canadian Nutrient File, and manufacturer and restaurant foods' data may have been updated.

Some institutions performing studies elect to use one version of the software and not install updates until the study has completed and all data for the period of the study has been compiled and reviewed.
