Q. Of the ESHA database items, how many include the serving size from the nutrition label on the package?
A. Most of the brand name foods include the serving size from the nutrition facts panel. USDA brand foods may include serving size data for specific brands. For generic items, the serving size might be determined by the RACC (Reference Amounts Customarily Consumed - the labeling regs) or they may be an average from several brands.
We try to include pertinent units of measure for foods in the ESHA database.
